Community Event: Join the University Park, MD community on Saturday May 10, 2025, for family-friendly fun and fitness!
Race Options: The Azalea Classic has a race for everyone! Choose from our USATF-sanctioned 5K, our 1-Mile Challenge Run, or our 1K Family Fun Run.
Organizer: The event is organized by the University Park Elementary School (UPES) Parent Teacher Association.
Proceeds: All proceeds benefit programs at the school. It will take place rain or shine. Dogs and strollers welcome.
📝 Registration Information
Early Registration: Like last year we’d like to encourage everyone to register early! 5K racers registering by April 19 will pay $30 plus processing fees.
Price Increases: The 5K price will go up to $35 plus processing fees on April 20, to $45 on packet pick-up day, and to $50 for walk-in registrations on race day.
1K and 1-Mile Pricing: The 1K and 1-mile price will be $15 throughout the registration period until race day, when they will go up to $25.
Discounts: If you register four or more people together, each registration will receive a $5 discount. Individuals signing up for multiple events will also receive a discount.
👕 Sponsorship Information
Family Sponsor: To sponsor the race as a Family Sponsor this year and get your name on the back of the shirt, please make a donation in the amount of $120 (or more) on the race's donate page.
Donation During Registration: If you are registering for the race, the option to donate/sponsor will happen during the registration process.
Donation Only Option: If you do not want to register for the race and only want to sponsor, you can do so from this page by clicking "donate" on the left.
Deadline for Sponsorship: We can only accept family sponsors until April 19.
🏃♂️ Race Week Information
Packet Pick-Up: Packet pick-up will be held on May 9 from 2pm until 6:30pm and on May 10 (race day) from 7am until the race begins.
T-Shirt Distribution: Shirts will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis during packet pick-up.
Street Closures: Runners, walkers, and town residents should be prepared for street closures beginning at 7am along the race route.
Parking Information: Parking can often be found along certain streets, but we encourage everyone to walk, bike, and/or take public transportation whenever possible.
