• Race Options: USATF-sanctioned 5K, 1-Mile Challenge Run, 1K Family Fun Run
• Beneficiary: All proceeds benefit programs at UPES

Join the University Park, MD community on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for family-friendly fun and fitness! The event is organized by the University Park Elementary School (UPES) Parent Teacher Association. It will take place rain or shine. Dogs and strollers welcome.

Registration Information/Información de Registro:

• Early Registration: 5K racers registering by April 11 will pay $30 plus processing fees
• Price Increase: Prices will rise to $35 on April 12, $45 on May 1, and $50 on race day
• 1K and 1-Mile Fee: $15 until race day, when it goes up to $25
• Discounts: $5 discount for registering four or more people together

If you register four or more people together, each registration will receive a $5 discount. Individuals signing up for multiple events will also receive a discount. We encourage all our UPES families to register for our event—if the cost is a problem, please email upesazaleaclassic5K@gmail.com or see Ms. Neff.

Sponsorship Information:

• Family Sponsor: Donate $120 (or more) to have your name on the back of the shirt
• Registration Option: Donation/sponsorship will be available during registration
• Donation Settings: Choose "Other" to enter your name for the shirt
• Deadline: Family sponsors accepted until April 10

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE SHIRT PRINTING SCHEDULE, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GUARANTEE PREFERRED SIZES AFTER APRIL 19, 2026!

Race Week Information!

• Packet Pick-Up: May 1 from 2pm to 6:30pm, and May 2 from 7am until race start
• Shirt Distribution: Shirts will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis
• Street Closures: Prepare for closures beginning at 7am along the race route
• Parking Locations: 4300 Block Underwood St, 6500-6600 Block of 44th Ave, 4200 Block of Tuckerman St, On 41st Ave and Queens Chapel Rd

Runners, walkers, and town residents should be prepared for street closures beginning at 7am along the race route. Parking can often be found along the following streets, but we encourage everyone to walk, bike, and/or take public transportation whenever possible:
