Hearts For Missions 5K

Event Overview

The Hearts for Missions 5K is being held on behalf of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church’s Missions Group. The proceeds from this walk/run/race will go toward efforts that aid in providing resources for the following:

• Cleveland County Rescue Mission: Providing vital support to those in need.
• Relief Efforts: Addressing needs in and around the Asheville, NC area affected by Hurricane Helene.
• Guatemala Missions: Supporting the Colegio Innovando Sonadores for children and care facilities for abandoned children and the elderly.
• Christmas at the Ridge: Helping vetted underprivileged children receive gifts for Christmas.

Inspiration and Purpose

In Apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he addressed and spoke about several things. Two of which were “running a race” and “competing in the games.” For example:

• 1 Corinthians 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
• 1 Corinthians 9:28: “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”
• Community Impact: Regardless of placement in the race, helping others is the true prize.
• Matthew 6:20-21: “Store up for yourselves treasure in heaven…”

Awards and Timing

Unique handmade awards! Award Structure is as follows:

• Top Finishers: Top 3 male and female overall.
• Ages Categories: Top 3 male and female for ages 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
• Professional Timing: The 5K will be professionally timed by Finish Well Timing, who will be donating their services.
• Date and Location: February 14, 2026, at 618 Chestnut Ridge Church Road, Kings Mountain, NC.
