The Dobbs Ferry Police Association is a non-profit organization comprised of twenty-six police officers who have sworn to protect and serve the community of Dobbs Ferry. Because the Village has its own police department, this community enjoys a reputation as one of the safest in Westchester County. Each year, we conduct a fund drive in the form of this solicitation, which funds the many programs the Association sponsors and participates in.
Since its inception, the Association has served as a benevolent organization for its members and has endeavored to be a support group for community programs and activities. Through the years, your generous donations have enabled the Association to support local programs such as The Dobbs Ferry Football Touchdown Club, two scholarships to Dobbs Ferry High School Students, our annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Drive, Christmas Toy Drive, the Child Safety Seat Inspection Program, the Police Officer Richard White Jr Scholarship, as well as a Dobbs Ferry Little League team. Additionally, the Association is happy to support the Dobbs Ferry Senior Center by sponsoring its annual year-end party, an evening of dining and entertainment organized for our local senior citizens.
The Dobbs Ferry Youth Services Council (YSC) plays an essential role in the Dobbs Ferry community by addressing the needs of local youth, fostering leadership, and promoting collaboration between young people and adults. This council includes community leaders, parent volunteers, and students from local schools like Dobbs Ferry High School, The Masters School, and Mercy College. One of its key goals is to create programs and initiatives that enhance the overall well-being of Dobbs Ferry's youth, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met.
A significant part of YSC’s work is supported by the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, which funds local coalitions to reduce substance use among young people. This program, managed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), provides grant funds annually to community groups like YSC. The grant enables YSC to strengthen partnerships with local sectors—including law enforcement, healthcare professionals, schools, and faith-based organizations—to reduce youth alcohol, tobacco, and drug use.
Through these efforts, the Dobbs Ferry YSC contributes to a healthier and safer environment for youth, empowering them to make positive choices while also supporting leadership development and community engagement. Your continued support allows us to make Dobbs Ferry an even better place, and we are deeply grateful for your contributions. Together, we are making our community stronger, safer, and more vibrant.
