Welcome to the Second Beacon Stride For Life Charity Event!

📖 Our Story

On March 28, 2023, I lost my mother “Missy” Maureen Manzi/Tyburczy to lung cancer. She battled cancer for less than a year where she fought it hard but unfortunately the cancer was too strong for her. She was a life-long resident of Beacon where she served the community the best she could. She worked at Bob’s Corner Store where she would serve the best bacon egg & cheese sandwiches and whenever you saw her, she would make sure you’d leave with a smile. She was also a bus driver for the City of Beacon School District where she loved being around the kids and making them laugh.

It's the difficult experience of losing my mother that sparked the idea of creating an event that helps support families and friends that have gone and/or are going through these heart wrenching times. The process is difficult for many families and I decided to put together a charity event that takes place in Beacon to help raise money in support of fighting cancer. I want to bring the community together and raise awareness of these battles we are tired of hearing about.

📅 Details

• Event Options: Choose between a 5k run/walk, a 9-mile bicycle ride, or an 18-mile bicycle ride.
• Routes: Pre-determined routes available for all events leading through Beacon.
• Start/Finish: Location at Memorial Park.
• Support: Refreshments and music after the event. Remember to obey all traffic laws!

• July 28th - August 1st: $50

WALKERS/RUNNERS/CYCLISTS WHO SIGN UP BEFORE JULY 14TH WILL RECEIVE A T-SHIRT.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED AFTER AUGUST 1ST 11:59PM EST, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER DAY OF EVENT.

🅿️ Parking

Parking is free and there will be a limited amount of spots near the pavilion where the event is. Additional parking areas include:

• Robert Cahill Drive: on top of the hill (in the flat grassy area near the porta potty)
• Skate Park: near the skate park off of Wilkes Street
• Little League Fields: along the side of Robert Cahill Drive
• Pop Warner Football: parking lot available

Please try not to park on the hill of Robert Cahill Drive near the pavilion since the routes go this way, thank you!
