Capital City Biathlon & 5K

🏃‍♂️Race Details

• Date: Saturday, May 24th, 2025
• Location: Danenberger Family Vineyards, New Berlin, IL
• Start Time: Mini-Biathlon at 7:30am, 5K Run & Biathlon at 8:30am
• Events:
  • Mini-Biathlon - 1 mile run - 7.5 mile bike
  • 5K Run
  • Full Biathlon – 5K run and a 15-mile bike
  • Team Biathlon – split between a runner and a biker

📦Packet Pickup

• Race Day: from 6:30 am to 7:15 am
• Reopening: after the mini starts until 8:15 am
• Location: Check-in tent on the south side of the Winery near Irish Road.

🚗Parking Information

• Parking: Available on the east side of the winery.
• Restrooms: Inside the winery and outside porta-potties.

⚠️Safety Guidelines

• Rules of the Road: Run on the left side, bike on the right side.
• Support: Ham Radio operators will patrol the roads.
• Traffic Expectation: Only a few homes along the route.

🏁5K Run Details

• Start Time: 8:30 am for all participants.
• Route: Flat, out and back on Irish Rd.
• Chipped Timed: Line up according to your intended pace.
• Post-Race: Head to the winery for snacks and breakfast for sale.

🚴‍♀️Biathlete Transition Instructions

• Finish Line: After your 1M or 5K lap, turn towards the bike corral.
• Transition: Time starts when you cross the finish line.
• Bike Protocol: Walk your bike out of the corral and wear your helmet.
• Final Time: Sum of all laps including transition times.

🔄Transition Area & Bike Route Rules

• Bike Rack: First come first served for positions.
• Gear Placement: Keep gear close to your bike: use a towel to separate items.
• Helmet Requirement: Must wear a helmet when leaving the corral area.
• Road Mounting: Wait to mount your bike until on the road.

• Categories: Awards for top finishers and age brackets for all events.
