Capital City Biathlon & 5K

🏃‍♂️ Event Details

• Date: Saturday, May 23th, 2026
• Start Time: 7:30am for the mini-biathlon
• Location: Danenberger Family Vineyards, New Berlin, IL
• Events:
  • Mini-Biathlon - 1 mile run - 7.5 mile bike - Starts at 7:30am
  • 5K Run - Starts at 8:30am
  • Biathlon – 5K run and a 15-mile bike - Starts at 8:30am
  • Team Biathlon – Split the Biathlon with one person running and the other biking

📅 Packet Pickup

• When: Race day from 6:30 am to 7:15 am for the mini-biathlon.
• Reopens: After the mini starts until 8:15 am on race morning.
• Location: Check-in tent on the south side of the Winery near Irish Road.

🚗 Parking & Facilities

• Parking: On the east side of the winery.
• Restrooms: Available inside the winery and outside porta-potties.

⚠️ Safety Guidelines

• Road Rules: Please run on the left side and bike on the right side.
• Ham Radio Operators: Will be patrolling the roads for local traffic assistance.
• Traffic Expectation: Minimal cars along the route due to few homes.

🏁 Race Course

• 5K Start Time: 8:30 am for all participants.
• Route: A flat, out and back on Irish Rd.

⏱️ Timing and Finish

• Chip Timing: Line up according to your intended pace: your time starts when you cross the start line.
• Post-Race: Head to the winery for snacks and collect your finisher's medal.
• Food Available: Breakfast for sale for friends and family.

🚴‍♀️ Transition Info for Biathletes

• Transition Time: Starts when you cross the finish line.
• Biking Rules: Walk your bike out of the corral, helmet on before leaving.

📋 Transition & Bike Route Rules

• Bike Rack: First come first served for positions in the transition area.
• Gear Management: Keep your gear close to your bike, using towels for separation.
• Helmet Requirement: Must be worn when leaving the corral area.
• Passing Guidelines: Maintain 3 bike lengths, pass quickly and on the left side.

• Awards: Top finishers and age brackets for all events.
