Capital City Biathlon & 5K

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

• Date: Saturday, May 24th, 2025
• Time: Starting at 7:30am for the mini-biathlon
• Location: Dannenberger Family Vineyards, New Berlin, IL
• Events:
  • Mini-Biathlon: 1 mile run - 7.5 mile bike - Starts at 7:30am
  • 5K Run: Starts at 8:30am
  • Biathlon: 5K run and 15-mile bike - Starts at 8:30am
  • Team Biathlon: One person runs 5K, the other bikes 15 miles

📦 Packet Pickup

• Timing: Race day from 6:30 am to 7:15am for the mini-biathlon
• Reopening: After the mini starts, open until 8:15am
• Location: Check-in tent on the southside of the Winery near Irish Road

🚗 Parking & Facilities

• Parking: Available on the east side of the winery
• Restrooms: Inside the winery and outside porta-potties

⚠️ Safety Guidelines

• Road Rules: Run on the left side, bike on the right side
• Assistance: Ham Radio operators will patrol the roads
• Traffic Expectation: Few cars along the route due to low housing density

🏁 5K Details

• Start Time: 8:00 am for all participants
• Route: Flat, out and back on Irish Rd

🕒 Timing & Finish Line

• Chipped Timing: Line up according to intended pace
• Finish Line: Collect your finisher's medal and snacks at the winery
• Food: Breakfast options available for friends and family

🚴‍♀️ Transition Instructions

• Finish Transition: Turn towards the bike corral after your running lap
• Helmet: Must be on before leaving the bike corral
• Timing: Transition time starts upon finishing the run
• Full Biathlon: Final time is the sum of all laps and transition

📋 Transition Area Rules

• First Come: First served for positions on bike racks
• Gear Storage: Keep gear close to your bike for efficiency
• Helmet Requirement: All bikers must wear helmets when leaving
• No Drafting: Maintain 3 bike lengths from others and pass quickly

🏆 Awards

• Categories: Awards for top finishers
• Age Brackets: Separate awards for all events
