This Earth Day weekend, Humboldt Park becomes a place of action, not just awareness.
The 5K for Earth Day is the culmination of an Earth Day focused weekend rooted in community, care, and forward motion. Across two days, participants are invited to engage with the planet in a tangible way.
Day one: plant a tree.
Day two: cross the finish line.
After a 13 year hiatus, this race returns not out of tradition, but out of a renewed sense of responsibility to bring people together around the environment, movement, and community.
Set within one of Chicago’s most historic green spaces, the race welcomes runners, joggers, walkers, families, and first timers alike. Humboldt Park’s tree lined paths and open landscape provide the perfect backdrop for an event that values participation over pace and purpose over performance.
This is more than a 5K. It’s a shared moment to reconnect with the city, the environment, and each other. No pressure. No pretense. Just forward motion in a space that represents resilience, culture, and community.
