Harlon Block was raised in Weslaco, TX, and went on to serve his country with extraordinary bravery during World War II. He was one of the six U.S. Marines who raised the American flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima...an image that became one of the most iconic symbols of courage, unity, and sacrifice in our nation’s history! Harlon Block gave his life in service to his country, but his legacy continues to inspire generations!
This event is more than a race, it's a community celebration! In addition to the running events, participants and spectators will be able to enjoy family-friendly activities.
