Event Overview:
Down for Trail Running is a trail running event that brings riders together for a challenging and rewarding day on the forrest roads and trails of western Maine. The start and finish are situated on the picturesque Mirror Lake, providing a scenic backdrop for the day’s ride. The route wind through forest roads, and single track, whether you’re looking to push your limits or enjoy a solid day of running with great company, this event is all about community and the shared experience of trail running.
Runners can choose how many laps to do, the course is designed to provide a mix of double track forrest roads, rugged sections, and some climbing. The ride is untimed—this is about the experience, not the results.
Saturday Gravel & Camping, Sunday Cyclocross:
The weekend kicks off on Saturday with a gravel ride and trail running race, offering fast-paced action and a great opportunity to warm up or spectate before Sunday’s CX race.. Runners are encouraged to camp on-site Friday and Saturday night to soak in the atmosphere, connect with fellow runners, and make the most of the weekend. The event setup includes a large open field with plenty of space for camping and parking, creating a festival-like setting leading up to race day.
Post-Ride Gathering:
After the trail run on Saturday, stick around to share stories, enjoy wood-fired pizza, and relax with a cold beer from a local brewery. A post-ride swim in Mirror Lake is highly recommended—there’s no better way to cool down after a long day on the bike.
