Weather Guidelines
Updated: January 8, 2026
The Kacie’s Run Committee prioritizes the safety of all participants, with a specific focus on the student volunteers who play a central role in the execution of our race. The following guidelines outline our protocols for inclement weather and event cancellation:
- Decision Timeline & Communication:
- Day-Before Decision: If reliable forecast sources predict inclement weather overnight or during the morning of the race, the Committee may make a decision to postpone the event the day before race day.
- Race-Day Decision: If weather develops unexpectedly, a decision to delay or cancel the race will be made on-site by at least two committee members.
- Monitoring: Weather will be monitored by the on-site Athletic Trainer.
- Notification: Any race-day changes will be communicated to attendees via the PA system.
- Safety Protocols:
- Lightning Policy: The race will strictly adhere to the CFBISD Lightning Policy.
- Emergency Shelter: Should inclement weather necessitate moving people temporarily.
- Rain Date & Refund Policy:
- Alternate Date: In the event of a cancellation, the race will be moved to a designated Rain Out Date.
- Registration Transfer: All registrations will automatically transfer to the new date.
- Refunds: No refunds will be provided for the original date.
- Event Authority:
- The race reserves the right to delay the start or cancel the course entirely for safety.
Should weather conditions make it necessary to postpone the event, we have reserved Saturday, April 25, 2026, as our official rain date.
