The Race Course

The race course — which rises between 300-400 feet in elevation throughout the entire race — features views and scenery that capture perfectly the quaint, authentic feel of New England, taking runners through covered bridges with names like Thompson, Carlton and Cresson, most of which date to the pre-Civil War era.

About Elijah's Race

The Swanzey Covered Bridges Half-Marathon, "Elijah's Race", is held each year in memory of its founder, Elijah Barrett. Elijah organized the event to raise funds to support the students of Monadnock Regional Middle-High School. He had attended MRMHS and eventually coached runners there.

Race Features

• T-Shirt: guaranteed for every participant that registers by August 15th.
• Medal: Custom participation medal for all runners.
• Facilities: Access to school locker rooms at start and finish of the race, as well as a couple of porta-potties along the course.
• Prizes: Cash prizes for top 3 runners.
• Post-Race: Barbeque and raffles.
