Why We Race & Dance
The Lexington Catholic DanceBlue is a fundraiser supporting the University of Kentucky Children’s Pediatric Oncology Unit. DanceBlue is an opportunity for our school and local communities to come together for a meaningful cause. We dance for those who can’t, their families, and the memories we make together. The DanceBlue organization is a year-round fundraising effort through the University of Kentucky, consisting of multiple different fundraising groups to reach an overall goal. The Lexington Catholic DanceBlue Mini Marathon works in support of this effort with all of the funds raised going directly to the University of Kentucky Clinic. Our Mini Marathon has numerous fundraising opportunities to help us reach our mini marathon overall fundraising goals. This student-led initiative encourages our members, students, and local community to help in the fight against pediatric cancer. By participating, donating, volunteering, and spreading awareness you are able to experience what DanceBlue is really about --- JOY!!
This is why we have decided to expand our effort and do our first ever 5K! The Color Me LexCath DanceBlue 5K is an opportunity to expand our community outside of just our student body. We welcome runners and walkers of all levels and abilities to join the fun. We hope to see you on September 20th! As our motto is always, everything we do is “For the Kids!”
Remembering Eli Christopher Sloan
A special Sunday mass will be offered at 7:00am in remembrance of our very own Eli Sloan. He sadly lost the fight to cancer in March 2026 but serves as a reminder to us to keep running and fighting. The mass will last about 40-45 minutes which will provide plenty of time to warm up before the race starts at 8:30am. Please bring a lawn chair if you would prefer to sit during the mass. We will hold the mass in a shady area next to Alltech Arena. We cannot wait to pray, honor Eli and run/walk with all of you!
