Huff 'N Puff on the Bluff 15K

Event Overview

After a few years off the calendar one of the Shoals' most beloved races is back and nearly out of breath! Ready to make you earn every mile, the Huff ’N Puff on the Bluff 15K returns to downtown Sheffield, winding through scenic downtown streets and along the Tennessee River for a breathtaking (and leg‑burning) 9.3‑mile challenge. The pigs are running again, and the wolf’s not far behind!

Course Information

• USATF Certification: AL15011JD
• Pace Requirement: Please do not enter if you cannot maintain at least a 14:30 pace per mile.
• Wheelchair Division: Due to course constraints, there will be no wheelchair division.
• Course Restrictions: Baby joggers, strollers, and animals will not be allowed on the course.

• Awards Categories: 15K Top 3 Overall Male/Female, Top Masters (40+) Male/Female, Top GrandMasters Male/Female (60+): 1st, 2nd, 3rd Male/Female Age Groups (14U, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+).

Aid Stations

• Aid Stations: There will be three aid and recovery stations on the course.
• Marker Information: Mile markers will be clearly displayed and split times given at each mile.
• Restroom Facilities: Available at the 2nd aid station.

Additional Information

• Early Packet Pick-up: Friday, March 5th at Solid Rock Running Company in Florence, AL from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.
• Race Day Schedule: Packet Pick-up and In-person Registration: 6:30 - 7:45 AM.
• Announcements: Call to start at 7:45 AM.
• Awards Presentation: 8:00 AM.

• Race Location: Sheffield Recreation Center, 2901 E 19th Ave, Sheffield.
• Event Date: Saturday, March 6, 2027 - 8:00 am CT RACE START.
• Arrival Time: If you can't make it to early packet pick-up, please plan to arrive prior to 7:15 AM.
• Day Registration: Yes, race day registrations are allowed up until 15 minutes before race start.

Registration Information

• Packet Pickup: Available at Solid Rock Running Company on the day before the race or at the Sheffield Recreation Center starting at 6:30 am on race day.
• Group Registration: You can pick up everyone's bib if you have their full name.
• Shirt Guarantee: Race shirts are included if you register before the deadline of February 13th.
• Medals or Prizes: Awards for overall top finishers and age group winners.

Parking and Course Rules

• Parking: FREE Parking is available on-site.
• Stroller Policy: No strollers, wagons, or wheelchairs due to course nature.
• Vehicle Restrictions: No wheeled vehicles allowed on course.
• Pet Policy: No pets allowed on the course: this rule is strictly enforced.

Course Timing and Certification

• Timing: Professionally RFID chip timed by Race Ready Events.
• Course Certification: The course is USATF certified #AL15011JD.
• Course Terrain: There are hills along the course with a grade of 8-15%.

Participation Requirements

• Experience Level: The 15K distance requires adequate training: it is not recommended for inexperienced runners.
