2026 Backyard Ultra

Overview

Get ready to run until you drop, because on September 26th at Leominster State Forest we're hosting our 2nd annual Backyard Ultra!

Race Format

• Loop Distance: Every hour, runners must complete a 4.167 mile loop - a yard - until they can’t.
• Start Time: If you don’t make it to the starting line at the turn of the hour, you’re out!
• Completion: Once a final runner runs a yard alone, the race is complete.
• Community: Whether you want to push yourself to your limits, mingle with new runners, or just want an excuse to be in the woods for a Saturday, you’ll be in the right place.

Amenities

• Refreshments: We will provide some light snacks and drinks (water, Gatorade, etc.).
• Facilities: A porta potty will be available on-site.
• Shade: A canopy (or two) will be set up for shade.
• What to Bring: Suggestions include camping chairs, picnic blankets, your own food and water, a hat, first aid supplies, and a change of clothes.

Safety Requirements

• Attire: You must wear blaze orange during the race, as we are in hunting season.
• Neighboring Event: The adjoining property is hosting a hunting event during a portion of our race.

Logistics

• Race Start: The race begins at 10:00 AM.
• Check-In: Please arrive between 9:00-9:30 AM to allow for check-in and prep.
• Entry Fee: $35.
• Early Registration Fee: Sign up before August 31st to receive a t-shirt!
