7th Annual WIT 5K on International Day of the Girl Child

Race Overview

• Event Name: 7th Annual WIT 5K Run/Walk

• Location: Blount Cultural Park, Montgomery, AL

Purpose

• Organization: Women In Training, Inc. (WIT​)
• Goal: End period poverty by distributing #WITKITS of menstrual, dental, and hygiene supplies.
• Target Audience: Underserved girls in Alabama.
• Impact: Provide menstrual education and leadership opportunities.

Registration

• Deadline: Register by October 1, 2026, to guarantee a race t-shirt in your size.

• Events:
  • WIT 5K: A 3.1 mile timed run/walk, starting at 9:00 AM CST.
  • WIT Fun Walk: A shorter 1-mile course, starting at 10:00 AM CST.
• Virtual Option: Participate virtually: shirts, bibs, and medals will be mailed.

Fundraising Impact

• Campaign: This race supports WIT’s signature WITKITS Campaign.
• Current Need: The pandemic has increased the number of girls unable to afford period products.
• Distribution: WIT has provided over 50,000 WITKITS since July 2019.
• Mission: Ends period poverty and empowers future generations of women.

Packet Pickup

• Dates: Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
• Location: Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
• Race Day Pickup: Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM at Blount Cultural Park.
• Participants: Packet pickup will be managed by WIT 5K Chairwomen Command Chief Mataya Williams and Mrs. Taaka Wilson.

Awards

• 5K Participants: Each receives a participant medal.
• In-Person Winners: Unique trophies for overall male and female winners: special medals for age group winners.
• Overall Winners: Categories for men, women, and age groups up to 70+.
• Age Group Categories: 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
