About this race
Event Details
- Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026

- Location: Global Power Museum Run Trail, 88 Shreveport Rd, Barksdale AFB, LA
- Distance: Participants can choose between a 9K Run and a 5K Run/Walk.
First Registrants
- Rewards: The first 25 registrants will receive an official race shirt and challenge coin.
Cause
- Support: The CMSAF Binnicker Memorial Run at Barksdale AFB will benefit the memory care wing at Air Force Enlisted Village's assisted living residence, Hawthorn House.
- Purpose: Every dollar raised from this event will provide care and support for military widows, retirees, veterans, and their family members with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Extra Mile Challenge
- Fundraising: Go the extra mile by creating a fundraiser in conjunction with your run.
- Reward: We will reward the top fundraisers.
Fundraising Incentive
- Race for Free: Register and commit to fundraising $109 for the Air Force Enlisted Village.
- Refund: We’ll refund you up to your registration costs when you’ve raised $109.
Impact
- Support: Every dollar you raise will provide care and support for those living on the memory care wing at the Air Force Enlisted Village’s assisted living residence, Hawthorn House.
Event History
- Inception: The inaugural CMSAF James C. Binnicker Memorial 9K was held in August of 2015.
- Origin: The idea was suggested by Airmen from nearby Eglin AFB.
- Honoring: Airmen wanted to honor CMSAF Binnicker while training for their upcoming marathon.
About CMSAF Binnicker
- Leadership: CMSAF#9 James C. Binnicker served as the Air Force Enlisted Village's President and CEO from 2000 to 2015.
- Values: Binnicker believed in treating residents with respect and dignity.
- Innovations: He created The Mom Rule for employee interactions with residents.
- Legacy: Binnicker's vision brought many additions to the campus, including the Garden of Hope and Hawthorn House.
