About this race
Race Overview
It's time for Virginia Run's favorite time of the year! We are happy to return for the 35th Annual Virginia Run Turkey Trot 5k run and 3k walk. This Thanksgiving day tradition is a great way to kick off the day with families and friends.

- Thursday, November 26, 2026: 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM
Start Times
- 5k Start time: 8:00 AM
- 3k Start time: 8:05 AM
Registration Information
- T-shirts: Will be provided to all 5k participants (and those that purchased) who signed up by November 1st.
- Registration: Continues until 7:30 AM Thursday: however, signing up beforehand is recommended.
- Bib Pickup: Please try to pick up your bibs on Wednesday if possible to avoid race morning rush.
Race Purpose
Founded in 1989, the Virginia Run Turkey Trot welcomes participants into the holiday season by promoting a spirit of community. This year, we invite runners and families back to this beloved tradition, where we will gather for a special day of turkey hats, dogs with feathered coats, and the excitement of the race. The Trot has raised roughly 1 million dollars for charity since its inception. Held on Thanksgiving, it is not just a race, but a reminder of what really matters. We hope you can join us.

THE AMERICAN BOY PROJECT is a 501c3 dedicated to helping anyone struggling with addiction. We issue treatment scholarships to candidates with no means, allowing for them to receive or extend the quality help they so desperately need. Visit the American Boy Project.
Registration Fees
- 5k: $40 until 10/31/26: $50 until 11/24/26: $55 on 11/25 through race day
- 3k Walk: $5 (T-shirts $20 extra)
T-Shirt Information
T-Shirts must be ordered by November 1st to guarantee delivery. After that, the shirts will be first come, first served.
