Race Overview
Join us for the RunAround Tucson Relay presented by Tucson Medical Center on January 23, 2027, at Rillito Regional Park, Tucson, AZ. For more details, visit the official race page.
Wave Starts
- Start Times: The event will use "wave" starts beginning with slower teams at 7:00 a.m. and progressing to faster teams starting at 10:00 a.m.
- Wave 1: 0700 (bibs in the 100's start in wave 1)
- Wave 2: 0830 (bibs in the 200's start in wave 2)
- Wave 3: 1000 (bibs in the 300's start in wave 3)
The Loop
There is nothing else like it in Tucson—a running relay on The Loop.
What is The Loop?
- Description: The Chuck Huckelberry Loop is 120+ miles of paved, shared-use paths that connect various parks.
- Current Use: In 2025, due to construction, the RAT will utilize the Rillito and Canyon Del Oro Washes.
- Distance: The RunAround Tucson will use 50 miles of the Loop and its segment partners.

Relay Structure
- Exchange Points: This is a supported relay race with nine exchanges (10 running legs if using "unofficial" exchange 6A).
- Start/Finish: The relay starts and finishes at Rillito Park.
- Distance Varies: Distances between the exchanges vary from 2.75 miles to 7 miles.

Team Requirements
- Team Size: The minimum number allowed on a team is two, and the maximum number is ten.
- Unofficial Exchange: Maximum can be 11 if using unofficial exchange 6A.
- Check-Ins: Each teammate must check in at every exchange, or the team will be considered a DNF.
- Ultra Loopy Runners: They only have to check in at Exchange 5 (los Ninos Park).
Race Timing
- Cutoff Time: All teams must be done and off the course by 6:30 p.m.
- Exchange 5 Deadline: All Teams must arrive no later than 1:15 p.m.
- Exchange 8 Deadline: All Teams must arrive no later than 4:30 p.m.
- Responsibility: Each team is responsible for getting teammates to the exchanges and to the Start/Finish line.

Awards
Awards will be given to FIRST PLACE TEAMS ONLY:
- Team Categories: All Male, All Female and Co-Ed Teams with 4-11 runners (Full Relay Teams).
- Half Loopy Relay: All Male, All Female and Co-Ed Teams with 2 runners.
- Ultra Loopy: Individual awards for Male and Female solo runners.
- Additional Awards: Best Dressed Team and Best Team Name (to be determined by event Sponsor).
