Moving Beyond Abuse 5K Race & Charity Walk

Event Overview

Women Aware's Moving Beyond Abuse 5K Race & Charity Walk will take place (rain or shine) on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Johnson Park - Grove 4 in Piscataway, NJ.

Race Details

• Course Certification: This is a USATF-Certified 5K flat course.
• Charity Walk: An optional one-mile Charity Walk is available for those who wish to run/walk a shorter course or simply support Women Aware.
• Team Registration: Teams are encouraged to sign-up to run/walk together.
• Beneficiary: All event proceeds benefit survivors and families moving beyond abuse through Women Aware.

Pet-Friendly Policy

BIG NEWS!! RUN. WALK. WAG. This year, we welcome runners, walkers, AND leashed furry companions for a family-friendly morning!

The worry of leaving a beloved pet behind to escape abuse is a big reason some victim-survivors choose not to seek shelter. We want to change that by transitioning to a pet friendly shelter. Help Women Aware keep survivors and their beloved companion safe and together.

Registration Information

• Advance Registration: Register in advance of race day (up to 11:59pm on 10.8) and save $10! Advance registration is $40.
• Race Day Registration: Registration on race day will be $50.
• Children: Free for children 11 and under.
• Furry Companions: No charge for leashed furry companions.

Event Highlights

• Swag Bags: First 100 registrants receive a Swag Bag with giveaways!
• Furry Companions: First 50 leashed furry companions receive a bandana!
• Live Music: Goldenseal the Band will perform LIVE at the event!
• Children's Activities: Face painting, henna/glitter tattoos, caricatures by Bernadine!

Photo Opportunities

Fall Photo Backdrop: Walkers, runners, pets, and families can take a fun fall photo!

Dog Policy: Dogs are welcome to walk with their owners during the 1-Mile Charity Walk, but will not be permitted on the 5K course during the race for the safety of all participants.

Starting Point and Parking

• Starting Point: Off River Road—parking and race entrance is Violet Drive.
• Parking: Parking is on your right of park entrance. The start line is by kiosk/restrooms.
• GPS Directions: Park entrance and parking can be found by searching "Johnson Park Grove 4" on GPS.

Schedule of Events

• 8:30am: Bib pick-up & Race Day Registration (day-of registration is $50)
• 9:30am: Runners Start
• 10:30am: Walk & Wag Starts
• 11:15am: Awards Ceremony
