The Arkema 5K Race & One Mile Fun Run is an annual fundraising run supporting the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, the Chatham Rescue Squad, and various qualified local charities, schools, and school organizations serving Chatham and Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

🏅 Course Details

• 5K Course: Features challenging elevation changes with no switchbacks.
• One Mile Fun Run: A great introductory, family-friendly course featuring moderate elevations and no switchbacks.
• Escort Policy: One escort can accompany any One Mile Fun child for free!

📝 Registration

• Online Registration: Participants are encouraged to register through this website.
• Manual Registration: A manual registration form is also available.
• Race Day Registration: Participants can register the morning of the race.
• T-Shirts: Not guaranteed if registration is on race day.

💰 Break a Record

• Cash Bounty: The 5K course maintains a $250 cash bounty for breaking a course record.
• Record Holders: Dale Ball holds the men's course record with a 15:55 set on October 13, 2001. Allison Peters holds the women's course record with an 18:52 established on October 12, 2013.
• Time to Shatter: Both records are over a decade old. They need to be shattered.

🏆 Awards

• Awards Categories: The 5K course has awards for walkers, runners, and teams (men's, women's, mixed).
• Age Groups: Top three awards for male and female runners in various age groups from 0-14 to 80 & Over.
• Team Awards: First place team awards for men, women, and mixed teams.
• Fun Run Awards: Awards for the top three boys and girls aged 12 & Under and an overall male and female award for the fastest finisher.

👨‍👩‍👦 One Mile Fun Run

• Course Accessibility: Open to anyone: separate course for kids and families.
• Parental Escort: A single parent is welcomed to escort a young runner for FREE.
• Finishers Ribbons: Provided for all finishers for girls and boys 12 & Under.
• Medals: Provided for the top three fastest boys and girls aged 12 & Under.

💖 Nominate Your Local Charity

• Nominations: Both registration forms feature a section to nominate a local community organization, non-profit, or school.
• Directing Funds: All runners and race volunteers get a nomination, allowing them to direct funds to a favorite local organization.
• Funding Dispersion: The Race Committee will tabulate nominations according to funding guidelines.
• Impact of Nominations: More nominations lead to more funding available to the nominated organization.
