5K Run / Walk for Clean Water

Why Water?

• Global Impact: The global water crisis doesn’t always make headlines. But the truth is that it claims more lives each year than war.
• Contaminated Water: Globally, 1.8 billion people – that’s about one out of every four people – drink from contaminated water sources.
• Health Risks: Unsafe water leads to illnesses that claim the lives of 840,000 people each year, almost half of whom are children under the age of five.
• Community Costs: Women and children spend hours each day collecting water, impacting their education and economic contributions.

Race Course

• Distance: Runners and walkers will enjoy a 3.1 mile road course starting from Grace Lutheran Church parking lot.
• Neighborhood: The route turns into the gently rolling neighborhood of Grace Ridge, looping through all three phases.
• Participants: This race is for recreational runners and walkers, as well as competitive runners.
• Fun Run: The fun run course will be held on Grace Lutheran property.

Race Day Check-In

• Timing: 7:00 a.m. - 8:20 a.m. on site.
• Registration Fees: Race day registration will be 5k: $30, Fun Run: $5.
• Course Records: Male: 17:22 (2024), Female: 19:59 (2025).
• Funding: All proceeds from the race will benefit the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Global Water Ministry.

Awards - 5K

• Top Finishers: Overall Top 3 Male & Female and Overall Masters Male & Female awards will be given.
• Cash Prizes: $100 cash prize for first overall male/female, $50 for second/third overall male/female, and $50 for first overall male/female masters!
• Divisions: The top 3 runners in each age division will receive awards for various age brackets.
• Age Group Awards: Sports beanie with logo for top finishers in age groups.

Awards - Fun Run (8 & under)

• Top Finishers: Overall top 3 Male & Female finishers.
• Cash Prize: $25 cash prize for first overall male/female (ages 8 & under).
• Participation Medal: All fun run participants will receive a finisher's medal.
• Community Event: A fun and engaging opportunity for young runners to participate.

Participant Perks

• T-shirts: Long Sleeved T-shirts for participants guaranteed if registered by October 31.
• Hushpuppies: Fresh, hot hushpuppies for all participants at the end of the race.
• Post-Race Fun: Enjoy delicious food and camaraderie with fellow runners.
