Run for the Word 5K

COURSE

• Start Point: The Run for the Word 5K course will start on Zion Street, across Highway 153 from Trinity Lutheran Church (108 W. Rice Street, Landis NC 28088).
• Route: Turn right on Hoke Street, right again on Kimmons Street, and another right on Rice Street. Continue to Highway 29 Business and turn left.
• Turnaround: Follow for 1.1 miles to the turnaround in the parking lot at Hogan's Cabinetry. Retrace the route back to Landis for 1 mile.
• Finish Line: Turn right on Ridge Avenue and then left on Zion Street to finish beside Trinity Lutheran, the host facility. This is a fast and flat course!!

PROCEEDS

• Beneficiary: All proceeds go to the South Rowan Public Schools Bible Teaching Association.

ICE CREAM

• Reward: Each 5k and fun run participant will be rewarded with free ICE CREAM at the finish line!!

PRICE

• Online Pricing: 5k price through September 11 (online) - $30, Ages 18 & Under - $20
• Race Day Pricing: $35
• Fun Run Pricing: 1/2 Mile Fun Run price - $15 (12 & under), $25 (13 & up)

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

• Registration & Check-In: 7:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church - 108 W. Rice Street, Landis, NC 28088
• 5K Start: 9:00 a.m.
• Fun Run Start: 10:00 a.m.

VIRTUAL OPTION

• Price: $30 - all ages.
• Convenience: Want to support the race but would rather run or walk at a time of your own choosing?! The virtual 5K is for you!
• Shirts: Virtual 5K runners and walkers will receive a shirt. Shirts may be picked up in person the day of the race - September 12, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
• Awards: Virtual participants not eligible for awards.

Awards

• Categories: Immediately following the race: Top 3 Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, 5K Top 3 Male and Female participants in each age division.
• Fun Run Awards: 1/2 Mile Fun-Run - ages 12 and under eligible for awards - top 3 in each age group: 8 & under and 9-12.

AGE GROUPS

• 5K: 11 & under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.
• Fun Run: 8 & under, 9-12

SHIRTS

• Description: 5K and Fun Run participants (in person and virtual) will receive a technical t-shirt.
