🏃♂️ Safe Water Challenge
Incorporated in the State of Michigan in 1988, Mercy-USA for Aid and Development is a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering globally and supporting individuals and their communities in their efforts to become more self-sufficient.
Join us on October 12th, 2024 for our first annual 5/10 K at Rouge Park in Detroit, Michigan to help raise money for the Safe Water Project in Somalia!
🌍 The Safe Water Project
- Situation: Somalia is considered the "second most climate-vulnerable country in the world" facing extreme weather conditions.
- Efforts: Mercy-USA has been working in Somalia for over 30 years, providing clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education projects, food aid, and emergency relief.
- Impact: Only a third of Somali families have access to clean drinking water, and Mercy-USA has dug and repaired over 800 wells since 1997, benefiting over 750,000 people.
- Change: Well construction funded by private donations has significantly improved the lives of tens of thousands in Somalia, especially empowering women and girls.
