Join us for the 44th Annual Big Mountain Run - Danny On Hill Climb!

Run, walk, or hike to the top of Whitefish Mountain Resort! A lung busting fitness challenge, or a casual family hike, the choice is yours! All ages and abilities welcome. Each entry receives a one-time lift ticket back down the mountain.

Date: Saturday July 25, 2026
Distance: 3.8 Miles with 2,200 ft elevation gain
Start Time: 9:30am
Start Location: Danny On Trail (near Hellroaring Saloon) at Whitefish Mountain Resort, Whitefish Montana

Finish Line

Finish: Where the Danny On Trail reaches the cat track to the Summit House.

Entry includes a lift ticket down, race swag, great prizes, and snacks at the top!

Awards

Awards will be on the deck of the Summit House on top of the mountain at 11:30am.

Categories: Fastest Adults (King and Queen), Fastest Juniors 16 and under (Prince and Princess)
Special Awards: Oldest and Youngest Runner, Prize Top Dog Award (Fastest Dog on a leash) up the mountain, and The Birthday Club!
Birthday Club: All runners finishing the course in a time less than their age (women - age plus 10 minutes) qualify for the Birthday Club and receive a cupcake and the coveted asterisk by your name.

Registration Cost

Adults (17 and older): $35, $40 on race day
Juniors (16 and under): $20, $25 on race day
Day of Registration: 8:00 to 9:10 am by the start of the Danny On Trail
Note: There tends to be a line, so please arrive at least 30 minutes before the race.

Support for Youth Programs

This is a fundraiser to support the Glacier Nordic Ski Team and Youth Programs. Last year, our 18 and under winter programs comprised of over 250 kids ages 4-18 years old. We offer a variety of options with affordable rentals to ease the cost of entry into skiing.

Outside of programs, Glacier Nordic Club groom trails at various locations, including Big Mountain Trail Head and Whitefish Lake Golf Course. Grooming trails are expensive, and club operations are funded by support through trail passes, memberships, and donations.
