Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

We invite you and your family to join us on November 9th, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. for a 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk to celebrate Veterans Day!! This race supports our veterans by raising awareness of suicide prevention and working towards ending it once and for all!

📊 Veterans' Challenges

This double-digit number has shaped how Americans think about military veterans and their daily struggles. This staggering number has become a cry for advocates trying to call attention to suicide among veterans, especially U.S. combat-injured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

• Challenges Faced: Many injured U.S. combat-injured veterans struggle with physical disabilities, including loss of limbs and mental health issues such as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
• Healing Opportunities: Fairways for Freedom® provides the opportunity for reintegration back into society through many holistic initiatives, including the game of golf.

🤝 Partnership and Purpose

This November 9th, Fairways for Freedom® is partnering with SSI VFW Post 4092 to host the Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk. Funds raised from this event will provide LOCAL U.S. combat-injured veterans the opportunity to heal.

📝 Registration Information

• Entry Fees: $35 entry fee 5K Race (T-shirt, medal, and swag bag)
• Entry Fees: $35 entry fee 1 Mile walk (T-shirt, medal, and swag bag)
• Children's Fee: $20 for children under 12 (swag bag and participation ribbon)
• Direct Donations: 100% of entry fees and donations go directly to Fairways for Freedom®
• T-shirt Guarantee: Registration received before October 21st, 2024 will be guaranteed a T-shirt.
• Registration Deadline: Registration will close Saturday, November 9th @ 7:45 am

• 7:00 am: Registration Opens Electronic Reg only (no cash)/ Packet Pick Up
• 7:45 am: Registration Closes
• 7:45 am: Welcome Message
• 7:55 am: National Anthem
• 8:00 am: Race Start Time
• 9:00 am: Awards (categories announced soon)

📦 Pre-Registration Packet Pick Up

• November 8th: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Saint Simons Island Pier, 100 Mallery St
• November 9th: 7:00 am to 7:45 am at race location - registration table.

We are excited to announce, following the race, a benefit will be held at Gnats Landing/ Redfern Village starting at 11:00 am. ALL proceeds will be donated to Fairways for Freedom®.

• Activities: There will be a Classic Car show, food, beer, prizes, and more!!!
• Incentive: All Runner/Walker participants will receive a coupon for this event.
