🏃‍♂️ What is a Tunnel To Towers Climb?

The Tunnel to Towers Climb Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. We honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! 🧗‍♂️ Event Participation Details

• Climb Requirement: First responders & civilians selflessly climbed 110 flights of stairs (with their gear) on that day in hopes of saving as many strangers as possible. We’ve designed this event to do the same, climb 110 flights of stairs in the old Wells Fargo Tower Bldg in downtown Raleigh, NC. Is this a requirement...no! Your participation is extremely impressive whether you do 1 flight or 100.
• Bail Out Area: There will be a bail out area on floor #10 with access to an elevator.
• Registration Limit: We are limiting the event to the first 200 so register early!
• Climb Duration: This depends on how many floors you climb, your fitness level, speed and amount of time spent at rest areas. Elite Climbers may finish the climb in less than 30 minutes, while the average participant should take about 60-120 minutes to finish.

⚠️ Climb Guidelines

• Stopping to Rest: Yes, climbers can stop on a landing to catch their breath, but please try to stay out of the way of others.
• Gear Requirements: Yes, first responders may wear turnout gear but should not bring scott packs.
• Elite Climbers: An Elite Climber is a competitive stair climber who routinely participates in stair climb events.
• Cell Phones: Yes, only registered climbers may enter the stairs with cell phones.

📅 Event Schedule

• Registration Time: 8-8:30 AM - Registration/check in
• Announcements: 8:30-8:45 AM - Announcements/Event details
• National Anthem: 8:45 AM - National Anthem
• Event Start: 9:00 AM - Event begins (2 hour time cap)

🅿️ Parking and Check-In

• Parking: Street parking will be available and free on a first come first serve basis, and at Alexander Square Parking Deck across the street.
• T-shirt and Medal: All participants who register in advance will receive an event T-shirt and a finisher's medal.
• Fundraising: No fundraising minimum, but fundraising helps offset costs and goes to the Tunnel to Towers programs.
• Minimum Age: Participants must be at least 10 years old on event day.

🤝 Team Registration

• Forming a Team: You can form a team while registering online by selecting the option to "Create a Team".
• Joining a Team: To join an existing team, select the "Join a Team" option, and select the Team name from the drop-down menu.
• Team Captain: Group registration is not an option at this time: please register multiple participants as separate transactions.
• Payment by Check: Yes, a team can submit one check from its company for every team member's registration fee.

🌟 Fundraising and Contributions

• Post-Event Fundraising: YES! The amount raised for incentive prizes will be determined at 6 weeks post event.
• Entry Fee Tax Deductibility: The entry fee helps cover the cost of producing the T2T Tower Climb: all donations above the fee are tax-deductible.
• Refund Policy: Participation is non-transferrable and registration fees are non-refundable.
