Join us for the 2026 KC5K: Running/Walking for Education! Once again the race will be LIVE and Virtual!
Race Details
- Location: St. John's Episcopal Church, Ellicott City, MD
- Date: March 28, 2026
- Live Race: Start from St. John's Episcopal Church, running through the beautiful Dunloggin Neighborhood
- Participants: Runners or walkers welcome, strollers included!
Awards and Prizes
- Top Finishers: Top three male/female in all age categories will win a hand-carved medallion from Wamunyu, Kenya
- Overall Winners: Top male/female overall will also win a hand-carved medallion and runner gift cards ($100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd and 3rd)
- Virtual Participants: Invited to participate anytime between 9:00 am on March 29 and 1:00 pm on March 30
- Top Places: Prizes for top three overall male/female and top winners in age groups 5-11, 11-17, 18-30, 31-50, 51-70, 70+
Pets and Teams
- Pets: Welcome to participate, must be on a leash at the LIVE race
- Special Bandana: Each pet will receive a bandana
- Largest Team: Prizes awarded for the largest team, each member has a tree planted in their honor in Kenya
- Top Fundraiser: Award for the top overall fundraiser, could be an individual or a team
Registration Information
- Premiums: Runners can choose between a Kenya Connect short-sleeved tech shirt or a visor
- Registration Deadline: Participants must register by March 1 to guarantee a premium
- Cost: $40 until March 6: $45 starting March 7: $25 for participants 18 and under
- Pet Registration: $10, including a bandana
Pump Challenge
- Challenge Description: Crossfit PCR is providing an additional challenge for racers
- Bench Press: Runners will bench press a percent of their body weight (75% for males, 50% for females) for max repetitions before the race
- Time Deduction: Each repetition will deduct 10 seconds off the runners' 5k time
- Separate Placement: Placement and prizes for Pump Challenge will be separate from the main race
Packet Pick-Up
- Date: Friday, March 27 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Feet First Columbia
- Race Day Pick-Up: March 29 from 8:00-8:45 AM at St. John's
- Weather Policy: The race is rain or shine
- Post-Race Activities: St. John's Auditorium is available for pre and post-race activities
