🏃‍♂️ Parkinson’s Wellness 5K – Step Up for Parkinson’s! ⚾

For over 200 years, Parkinson’s Disease has been steadily growing—and recently, at an alarming rate. It is now the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world. In the U.S., Florida has the highest number of cases per capita, with over 79,000 individuals affected, contributing to the 1 million cases nationwide and 10 million globally. That number is projected to rise to 12.9 million by 2040.

🧠 Understanding Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s is a chronic, progressive, and complex multi-system disorder with no known cure. While often classified as a movement disorder, it affects much more than just physical movement, impacting mental, emotional, and autonomic functions as well.

💪 About the Lee Health Parkinson Program

• Served: Over 4,500 individuals in our community
• Supported: Currently around 2,000 people
• Mission: Provide hope and critical resources to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of living with Parkinson’s
• Offerings: Personalized support, education, movement and exercise classes, enrichment groups, and social activities
