Event Name: Buzz Sawyer Western Maryland Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K
Date: Sunday, October 19th, 2025
Location: 9 S Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock, MD
Historical Significance: The race has been renamed in honor of Buzz Sawyer, a celebrated distance runner and creator of the JFK50 Miler. More information can be found here.

Course: The race takes place entirely on the beautiful Western Maryland Rail Trail (WMRT).
Start/Finish Point: Located in the charming town of Hancock, known for its rich C&O Canal history and stunning scenery.
Course Certification: The marathon (MD17006NP) and half marathon (MD17005NP) courses are USATF Certified, making them ideal for Boston qualifying times.
Transition of Leadership: The race has been passed from Frank and Mike of Altis Endurance to Katie and Adam Lowe of 2Lowe Run Company.

Half Marathon Start: 8:00 AM
10K Start: 8:15 AM
Address: Start/finish is at the Western Maryland Rail Trail, just north of C&O Bicycle.
