- Inception: The Dam Site Run was created in 2020. It started as simply a rare opportunity to race that year when nearly every other race was cancelled.
- Scenic Backdrop: Turns out, the date meant perfect fall colors as the leaves started to fall in Central Illinois, creating the perfect backdrop for a fall race.
