Spook out Cancer

Event Overview

Join us for the second annual Spook Out Cancer 5K, a Halloween-themed community event benefiting the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) - the nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society working to advance policies that save lives from cancer, reduce the cancer burden, and improve access to care. 🎃

Whether you’re a competitive runner, casual jogger, weekend walker, parent pushing a stroller, or simply looking for a fun reason to enjoy a crisp fall morning outside, this event is for you. Together, we’ll raise funds to support ACS CAN New York’s mission to help cancer patients, survivors, and thrivers across our community.

Event Details

• Location: Orenda Pavilion at Saratoga Spa State Park
• Packet Pickup: Race bib pickup will be available on race day (10/4) from 7:30 AM – 8:45 AM.
• Parking: Free parking is available in the main SPAC parking lot off Route 50, directly behind the box office, just a short walk from the pavilion (signs will direct you!). Please note: parking directly at Orenda Pavilion requires a $10 park entrance fee, which is not included in your registration.
• Race Start: The race begins promptly at 9:00 AM.

Registration and Raffles

• Day-Of Registration: Still convincing your friends and family? Day-of registration will be available. Cash or Venmo accepted.
• Raffles: We’ll have awesome raffle prizes available throughout the morning with 1 ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for $10 (Cash or Venmo accepted).
• Founder's Note: Spook Out Cancer was founded by local stage IV cancer survivor Olivia Mannion, who is passionate about ensuring every person has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, survive — and thrive — through cancer.
• Unable to Attend? If you’re unable to attend the 5K, please consider donating in honor or memory of a survivor, thriver, caregiver, loved one, or anyone impacted by cancer.

Run of Show

• 7:30 – 8:45 AM — Packet pickup
• 7:30 – 10:30 AM — Raffles + trick-or-treat table open
• 8:30 AM — Group stretching and breathing session
• 8:45 AM — Opening remarks and event announcements
• 9:00 AM — Race begins
• 11:00 AM — Raffle winners announced (You do not need to be present to win.)

More Fun

• Dogs: Dogs are welcome as long as they remain leashed.
• Prizes: Top finishers will receive prizes.
• Refreshments: Apples, cider donuts, and fresh cider from local orchards will be available.

Contributions or membership payments to ACS CAN are not tax deductible.
