River Run for the Roots

📅 Race Date

NOTE: Due to planned construction/utility work on the course this summer, the River Run for the Roots 5K run/walk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025.

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

• Event: The River Run for the Roots is an annual 5K run/walk from the Common Roots Brewery to benefit its nonprofit, the Common Roots Foundation.
• Course: This looped course starts and finishes in the Park & Ride lot behind Common Roots at 58 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY.
• Scenic Route: The course winds through the village of South Glens Falls, including the Betar Byway along the Hudson River.
• Path: About a half mile of the course ventures onto a gravel path (the SGF Beach Bikeway) while the rest is paved.

🌱 Foundation Purpose

As in past years, this race is a fundraiser for the Common Roots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that aims to sustain and improve the quality of life in northeastern New York. The Foundation supports local efforts in the areas of community wellness, environmental stewardship, and assisting those in times of need.

📍 Start/Finish Location

The race start is directly behind Common Roots Brewery in the Park & Ride parking lot. Registration will occur under the tent near the finish.

📝 Registration & Packet Pickup

• Pre-registration: Pre-registered racers can pick up their bibs and T-shirts on Friday, Oct. 3 from 5-7 p.m. in the Common Roots Biergarten (58 Saratoga Ave) or Saturday, Oct. 4 from 8 to 9:45 a.m. at the Common Roots Bierhall (62 Saratoga Ave).
• Race Day Registration: Day-of race registration will begin at 8 a.m in the Common Roots Bierhall (62 Saratoga Ave). Day-of race registration closes at 9:45 a.m.

• Important: Online registration closes Thursday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. EDT.

💵 Cost

• $35 Early registration: (before Sept. 4, 2025) - Includes T-shirt and beer coupon on race day.
• $40 Pre-registration: (Sept. 5-Oct. 3) - Includes beer coupon, T-shirt not guaranteed.
• $45 Race-day registration: (Oct. 4) - Cash or checks preferred. Includes beer coupon, T-shirt not guaranteed.

Online registration costs do not include RunSignUp fees, which will be shown at checkout.

📅 Schedule of Events

• 8 AM: Registration begins at Common Roots Bierhall, 62 Saratoga Ave. (new building)
• 10 AM: Race/walk begins
• 11 AM: Post-race celebration, awards, and refreshments

There is plenty of parking in the Park & Ride Parking lot behind Common Roots.

The first 200 registrants will receive T-shirts. Sign up early so you don’t miss out.

🏆 Awards

Top 3 overall men and women. Top 3 men/women in the following age groups and categories: 1-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, and stroller division.
