Wounded Warrior 5K Fun Run

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

This family-friendly event raises awareness and funds to support our nation's bravest warriors and their families through programs and services provided by Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Join us on the beautiful campus of Trane Technologies located in Davidson, NC, for a 5K along the shore of Lake Norman. If you're not local to Davidson, we still want you to participate so please join our "Virtual" option and participate from wherever you are!

🎖️ Wounded Warrior Project Mission

• History: For over 20 years, Wounded Warrior Project has been providing a variety of programs, services, and advocacy to empower veterans and their families.
• Support: As the leading veterans service organization in the United States, WWP provides post-9/11 wounded, ill, and injured warriors and their families with access to mental health services, physical wellness activities, VA benefits assistance, and peer support.

💔 Veteran Challenges

• Suicide Rates: The VA reports veterans are more than twice as likely to die by suicide than non-veterans.
• Access to Services: Veterans are having to wait months to access mental health services at the VA.
• Prevention: Although many factors contribute to suicide, the programs and services WWP offers to veterans and their families help maximize protective factors and minimize risks.

🎉 Team Yellow Ribbon

• Support: In 2023, Team Yellow Ribbon began supporting WWP's cause and held its first 5K.
• Fundraising: In the last two years, Team Yellow Ribbon has raised over $17,000 and continued to raise awareness of veterans mental health services.
• Encouragement: There is more to be done. We invite you to join us as we continue this effort.

🏅 Race Participation

If you're unable to join us in Davidson, join our "VIRTUAL" option and walk, run, or jog in your area!

All participants will receive a race bib, a WWP t-shirt, and a medal upon completion. Register by October 15th to be guaranteed a t-shirt.
