🏃♂️ Race Overview
The Shore Athletic Club presents the Asbury Park George Sheehan Classic 5K.
Date: Saturday, August 9, 2025
Location: Kingsley Street and 5th Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ
Flat, fast USATF certified course finishing on the famous Asbury Park Boardwalk
Opening Ceremony: 7:50 AM at Bradley Park
💰 Registration Fees
- Early Registration: $36 if you register by March 9th
- Pre-event Registration: $40 if you register by May 9th
- Late Registration: $46 if you register by July 31st (if space permits)
- Race Day Registration: $60 on race day, August 9th (if space permits)
The field will be capped at 1,600 runners this year. Shirts for the first 1,200 to pick up. Register early to avoid getting closed out.
👧 Kids' Races
Registration Fees:
- Early Registration: $14 if you register by March 9th
- Pre-event Registration: $16 if you register by July 31st
- Race Day Registration: $20 from August 1 - 9th
Suggested Distances for Kids' Races:
- 2-4 years old: 50 meters
- 5-7 years old: 100 meters
- 8-10 years old: 200 meters
- 11+ years old: 400 meters
📅 Schedule of Events
- Friday: 4-7 PM - Late Registration (if available) & Bib/T-Shirt Pick-up at The Outpost in Little Silver
- Saturday: 6:30 to 7:45 AM - Late Registration and race day bib pick-up at Bradley Park
- 8:00 AM: 5K Run begins
- 9:00 AM: Kids races begin
🏆 Awards
Top 5 Overall Open Male and Female will win CASH Prizes (and the prize money has been increased this year)!
Prize Money Breakdown:
- 1st Place - $200
- 2nd Place - $150
- 3rd Place - $125
- 4th Place - $100
- 5th Place - $75
Age group awards: 5 year age groups - Top 3 in each age group win custom Sheehan Classic beach towels and other awards.
🎉 Team Competition
We will have a special award for the Winning Team(s) in each category:
- Men's Teams
- Women's Teams
- Masters Men (40+)
- Masters Women (40+)
(we will score the top 4 fastest times in each category. Co-ed teams must have a minimum of 2 females.)
We will also have an award for the team with the largest number of entrants.
👕 Race Tees
Soft cotton tie-dye Asbury Park Sheehan Classic shirts to participants, first 1,200 to pick up their bib/shirt!
The first 1,000 people to pick up their bibs on Friday and Saturday will also get a drink ticket for The Robinson Ale House.
💖 Charity Partnership
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County.
