Costume Contest

At the heart of the "Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Texas Parks Edition" is an exciting costume contest that invites runners to fully embrace the spirit of Dia de los Muertos. Participants gather at the starting area, showcasing their most creative and vibrant costumes, evaluated based on creativity, authenticity, and overall impact.

• Prize: The winner receives the coveted "Day of the Dead Best Costume Award" along with a special prize package.
• Event Spirit: Encourages participants to run in style and celebrate in true Day of the Dead fashion from the very start.
• Community Building: Fosters excitement and camaraderie among runners.

• Amenities: Awesome medals, cool Tee's, high energy staff, and snacks and refreshments available post-race.
• Live DJ: Our DJ will be playing all the hits and announcing every runner.
• Awards Ceremony: Award winners will be recognized for their accomplishments immediately following races.
• Safety: Aid stations on course to provide assistance and hydration.

• Youth Pricing: Youth-based pricing for 5K & Quarter Marathon 12 & Under is only $15!
• Referral Bonus: Participants will receive a $20 refund if they refer 5 others.

• Kids Dash: A 20-yard dash for kids 10 and under, including a tee shirt, race medal, and recognition pin.
• 1 Mile: Designed for all ages and experience levels, not chip-timed, includes tee shirt and race medal.
• 5K: Chip-timed race featuring trophies and recognition pins for top finishers.
• 1/4 Marathon: Chip-timed race with awards for top finishers.
• Half Marathon: Chip-timed 13.1 miles with awards for top finishers.

Standard Age Group Awards for 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon:

• 1st Overall M/F: Trophy
• 1st Overall M/F Masters: Special recognition award lanyard pin
• Age Categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award pins for various age brackets.

Event Schedule

• 6:30-7:45am: Packet Pickup
• 7:55am: Kids Dash (Participants walk to starting area)
• 8:00am: National Anthem and Race Start
• Awards: Results and Awards available live at the Registration tent immediately following your finish!

Volunteer Opportunities

Join us as a volunteer, helping with various tasks such as packet pickup or being a Course Monitor. Volunteers receive a race shirt, medal, and access to future events as rewards.

• Volunteer Benefits: Earn race-related swag and VIP access for your participation.
• Responsibilities: Course Monitors guide participants, while Aid Station volunteers provide hydration and maintain a clean course.
• Timing: Volunteers arrive 1.5 hours before the race start time.

Important Notes

Packet pickup is offered for 1.5 hours before the event start time. Bigfoot Running Company races typically take place at parks and green belts, featuring mixed course surfaces including paved trails and dirt paths. The event will happen rain or shine.
