Please join us for the Achievement Centers for Children’s 36th Annual A Most Excellent Race at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville!

Registration Information

• Deadline: New for 2026: Anyone who registers after June 9, 2026 will not be guaranteed a shirt.
• Shirt Availability: Classic shirts will be available in certain sizes on event day, subject to availability.
• Event Time: The Camp Cheerful Classic will kick off at 8:30 am on race day.
• Online Registration: Register online today!

Support Opportunities

• Fundraising: Participants and non-participants can support recreation services by becoming fundraisers.

Schedule

• Check-In: Opens at 7:30 a.m. at the registration tent for bibs and t-shirts.
• Race Start: The race will begin at 9:00 a.m.
• Camp Classic: Non-competitive dash/walk for clients kicks off at 8:30 am.

Parking and Accessibility

• Main Parking: Available at Best Western Hotel 15471 Royalton Road, Strongsville, with shuttle service to Camp Cheerful.
• Handicapped Parking: Available on-site at Camp Cheerful.
• Entrance: Follow volunteer instructions when entering or exiting through the single lane bridge.

Event Guidelines

• Dogs: Only qualified service animals are permitted at Camp Cheerful.
• Strollers: Strollers are permitted on the course.
• Family Activities: Limited activities include a coloring station and athletic balls for play, weather permitting.
• Food and Beverage: Water and snacks will be provided.

Virtual Run

• Participation: Complete the 5K or 10K on your own, outdoors or on a treadmill.
• Result Submission: Submit your 5K result HERE prior to race day.
• Invitation: Virtual participants can invite family and friends from around the country.
• T-Shirt Pickup: Must be picked up at the Race or at one of ACC’s sites, email events@achievementctrs.org for arrangements.

Awards

• Awards Distribution: Awards will be distributed at the awards tent starting at 9:30 am.
• Eligibility: Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.
• Award Categories: Top three overall male and female runners, and top three in age groups: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over.

About the Achievement Centers for Children

The mission of the Achievement Centers for Children is to empower children and adults with disabilities and their families to achieve their greatest potential. We have been serving northeast Ohio for over 80 years. Camp Cheerful has been serving the community for over 75 years as Ohio's first barrier-free or fully accessible camp for people with disabilities. Today, children and adults with physical, developmental and sensory disabilities continue to enjoy and benefit from typical camp activities.
