We invite you to join us at the 2026 Captain Zinn Memorial 5K Run and Racewalk on Sunday, April 12, at Dorbrook Park in Colts Neck, N.J. Dorbrook Park is located at 353 County Road 537, Colts Neck, N.J. Bib and T-shirt pick-up will be right by the playground.

This event honors all Vietnam Veterans and is named in memory of Captain Ronald Lloyd "Ron" Zinn, a racewalker from the United States who was killed in Vietnam in 1965. He graduated from the US Military Academy in 1962 and represented the USA at the 1960 Summer Olympics (Rome) and the 1964 Summer Olympics (Tokyo). He placed 6th in the 20K race walk in 1964. Shore AC has held this race in memory of Captain Zinn since 1966. The day features a 5K Racewalk & walk at 10:00 am, a 5K Run at 10:05 am, and a kids' fun run at 9:30 AM. The first 200 people in the 5K to pick up their bibs receive an event t-shirt. All youth participants will receive a custom spike bag at bib pick-up.

First 200 people in the 5K to pick up their bibs receive an event t-shirt
AWARDS New this year! The male and female winner of the 5K will receive $100 cash. The 2nd and 3rd place finisher in the 5K will each receive $50 gift cards. The top 3 male and female finishers for the 5K racewalk also receive a special award. The top 3 male and female military personnel/veterans will receive a special award. Top 3 boys and girls in the 1 Mile Run (designed for age 14 and under) win an award. Age-group awards will be presented to the top 3 male & female finishers in each age group in the 5K.
Age groups are as follows: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79m and 80+.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 5K course includes one smaller and one larger loop on the paved path at scenic Dorbrook Park. The races are entirely within the confines of this beautiful Monmouth County Park, which is completely closed to vehicular traffic.
The 1 mile race will start near the 5K finish and do the first (smaller) loop of the 5K and finish at the same spot as the 5K.
VIRTUAL RACE Those who are not able to join us in person can sign up for our virtual option. Those who register by March 20 will receive a race shirt. Submit your results (5K is 3.11 miles) to us before midnight on April 12, and we will include you in the results. We will recognize our top virtual race finishers in the results and send awards to the top 3 male and top 3 female performers after the race.
