Mayor's Run for the Trails 5K + Kids Fun Run

Event Overview

The Mayor's Run for the Trails 5K + Kids Fun Run will take place on 2026-10-10 at 6300 Pioneer Parkway, Johnston, IA. For more details, visit the race page here.

Race Schedule

• Check-in: Starts at 8:30 AM.
• Ready Time: All racers should be ready by 9:00 AM near the start line.
• Start Time: Kids' fun runs and 5K walkers begin at 9:00 AM.
• 5K Running: Begins around 9:30 AM after completion of kids' events.

5K Registration Fees

• Base Fee: $30.00 Race Fee + $2.80 SignUp Fee.
• T-Shirt Add-On: $10.00 (additional charge for plus sizes).
• Finisher Medal Add-On: $5.00.
• Late Registration: Increases to $40.00 after September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM CDT with no shirt add-on option.

Kids' Fun Run Registration Fees

The kids' dash and the 0.62 around the lake are untimed fun runs for ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, with options for a youth-sized shirt ($10.00) and a medal ($5.00). If your child opts out of the SWAG, they can participate for free on race day!

• 100-meter kids' fun run: ages 2-5
  • Free to Race (registration required before September 30 for t-shirt and/or medal).
  • Optional T-Shirt Add-On for $10.00.
  • Finisher Medal Add-On for $5.00.
  • Registration increases to $40.00 after September 30, with no shirt add-on.
• 0.62 around the lake: ages 6-10
  • $10 + $1.60 SignUp Fee to race.
  • Optional T-Shirt Add-On for $10.00.
  • Finisher Medal Add-On for $5.00.
  • Registration increases to $15.00 after September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM CDT, with no shirt add-on.

Additional Information

• Chip Timing: Each 5K participant will be chip-timed.
• Course Maps: Maps for the 5K and kids' fun runs are posted above.
• Packet Pickup: Encouraged on Friday, October 9, from 4-6 PM at Crown Point Community Center. Available on race morning too.
• Food: Bagels, water, and fruit will be provided post-race.

• Photos: Runners will be photographed during the event. Share your selfies with #MayorsRunforTrails2026.
• Branded Items: T-shirts and medals available for purchase through online pre-registration only.
• Prizes: Top prizes for 5K age group winners (only 5K runners eligible).
• Age Groups: Prizes awarded in categories: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.
