Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k and Fun Run

Race Overview

Get ready to "scramble" through Buchanan for the second annual Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k and Fun Run. Our scenic race course will take you through our charming town and along the beautiful McCoy Creek Trail. You might even "catch" a glimpse of the migrating salmon along the course or at the finish line.

• Series Participation: The Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k is part of the Michigan Fruit Belt Series. Complete 5 5k(s) to earn a special coin. Learn more about the series here.
• Discounts Available: The race is part of the Fleet Feet Mishawaka Race Series. Join for discounts on all races. Membership discount begins June 1st, 2026 at 12:00 am. Sign up here.
• Race Timing: All distances will be professionally chipped timed by Watt's My Time. Race results will be provided to all participants.

Finisher Medals and Swag

• Unique Medals: Our finisher medals are crafted from salvaged wood and laser engraved.
• Awards: Overall awards for top three male and female finishers in the Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k distance ONLY.
• Inclusions: Registration includes a race bib, finisher medal for all distances, and post-race snacks (refreshments include Water, Gatorade, fruit, and other snacks).
• Timing Results: Professional timing results will be recorded for all participants and all race distances.

Race Distances and Course Description

Whether you are a beginner participating in your first 5k or working towards your personal best, we have something for everyone! Our course is a combination of road, paved trail, packed dirt, and grass. Some portions are hilly, providing a great challenge to start your fall racing season.

• Race Options: We offer a 1.75 mile run, 5k, or a challenge combo called the Prickly Pear.
• Challenge Details: The Prickly Pear combines two race distances, requiring a 16 min/mile pace. Participants will receive additional recognition with an add-on piece for their medals.

Packet Pickup and Parking

• Early Pickup: Available on Friday, October 23rd from 5-7 PM at the race location.
• Race Day Pickup: Begins at 7 AM at the race location.
• Specific Pickup: If signed up for the Prickly Pear Challenge or 1.75 mile run, you must pickup your race packet between 7-7:45 AM.
• Parking: Available at the Buchanan high school parking lot and side streets.

• Prickly Pear Challenge: 8 AM

Extras

• Group Discount: When you register 4 or more people, the discount will be: $1 off each registered entry.
• Registration: Online only, no paper registration will be provided.
• Pets: Please leave dogs at home.
• No Refunds or Transfers: There are NO REFUNDS. There are NO TRANSFERS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
