2026 Lake Casitas Short Course Championships (Middle School Racer Sign Ups ONLY)

Event Overview

Lake Casitas Short Course Championships is a high school level meet, home of the Ventura County Championship on the beautiful Lake Casitas Cross Country Course where many legends of the sport have run over the last 30 years. The middle school level race will return in 2026. This will be one middle school race with all genders and grades. If registrations are over 200 runners, we may increase to two races.

Important Race Information

• Course Map: Course Map Link HERE
• Middle School Race Time: 4:15pm
  • High School races will follow at 4:45pm and 5:15pm. Stick around to watch the "big kids" race!
• Awards: Top 30 boys and Top 30 girls will receive medals in the finish chute.
• Cost: $5 goes towards timing with live chip timing and awards. Paid here, on RunSignUp. Parents can register their athletes.

Directions and Parking

• Directions: 11311 Santa Ana Rd, Ventura, CA 93001. From the main Lake Casitas gate, turn right and drive about 2 miles to the cross country course and boat launch ramp.
• Parking: NO BUSES OR CARS WILL BE ALLOWED PAST THE LAST GATE AFTER 3:45pm. If you get to the course early, park in the group campsite area before the last gate. There will be people there to help direct you. Buses should park along the top road before the gate.
• Note: If you park down on the course level you will not be able to leave until the final race is completed for the day and the runners have left the finish area (usually about 6:00pm). It is a ¼ mile walk from the parking area down to the starting line/check-in area.
• Entry Charge: There is a charge per vehicle entering the park. Please make parents and friends aware of this charge so that they may plan carpools.

Hydration and Amenities

• Water: Please provide water for your teams and make sure your runners pre-hydrate. Faucets are available to refill your containers around the Spectator Hill, by the restrooms, and in the camping areas. We will have water in cups at the finish line for athletes. YOU MAY PROVIDE WATER TO ATHLETES DURING THE RACE.
• T-shirts and Snack Bar: We will have custom Lake Casitas Short Course Championships t-shirts for sale as well as a light snack bar. Halloween themed, get yours before we sell out!
