Problem Overview

• Daily Struggle: Every day, women and children in East Africa walk an average of 5K to retrieve water for their families—water that is often unsafe and contaminated.
• Health Risks: This unclean water contributes to the spread of disease and burdens families with high medical expenses.
• Vulnerable Populations: The cycle of poor sanitation and health risks is challenging, especially for children, the elderly, chronically ill, and the disabled.
• Easy Solution: Thankfully, there is a straightforward solution to this problem.

Our Mission

• Event Purpose: Skylar’s Run – 5K for Clean Water raises awareness that by going the same 5K distance, we can help change the story for vulnerable families in Kenya.
• Funding Impact: Funds raised through this event provide sustainable water filters, giving families access to clean, safe water.
• Transforming Futures: A single water filter can transform a family’s future—reducing preventable health challenges, creating opportunities for education, and helping build greater economic stability.
• Community Involvement: Race headliner, Skylar Gwin, and his father, Paul, will lead the way, striving toward running their 200th race together.

Event Participation

• Open to Everyone: This event is a 5K Run/Walk or 1/2 Mile Walk & Roll accessible for everyone!
• Join Us: Come join the fun as we raise money to create impact beyond the finish line!
• Race Details: Sign-in at the park will begin at 7:00 am, and events will start at approximately 8:00 am.
• Registration Includes: T-shirt for participants, giveaway ticket, and post-race drinks & snacks.

New for 2026

• Revised Course: The race course will feature two 'out and back' sections that will eliminate the steep hill on the East Meadow loop.
• Donation Opportunity: Add-on purchase of a donation for a water filter ($100) will be matched to a recipient family.
• T-Shirt Deadline: Race t-shirts in requested size will not be guaranteed if sign up occurs after September 10, 2026.
• Family Registration: Option to register up to 4 family members for $100 total.

Awards

• Medals: 5K Race Medals for Top 3 Timed Finishers in each age/gender category.
• Trophies: 5K Race Trophies for Overall Top 3 Finishers - Men and Top 3 Finishers - Women.
• Ceremony: 5K Medal ceremony & photobooth opportunity with Paul & Skylar will take place after all events.
• Participation Recognition: All registrants of the "Walk & Roll" event will receive medals in a special awards ceremony.
