Skylar's Run - Clean Water 5K

Event Overview

Every day in East Africa, women and children walk an average of 5 kilometers to retrieve water for their families that is often unclean and unsafe for human use. The Skylar's Run - Clean Water 5K event is focused on bringing awareness that Safe, Clean Water IS a solvable problem. Race headliner, Skylar Gwin, and his father, Paul, will be leading the wheelchair & stroller accessible "Walk & Roll" event as a testimony to the fact that EVERYONE can be part of the clean water solution, no matter their age or abilities.

Purpose

• Fundraising: All funds raised through this event are used to provide sustainable water filters for vulnerable families in Kenya.
• Target Population: This designation most often applies to those with limited means who have young children, elderly, physically disabled, or chronically ill family members.
• Health Risks: These populations are most susceptible to water-borne illnesses.

Event Details

• Sign-in: Sign-in at the park will begin at 7:00 am.
• Start Time: Events will begin at approximately 8:00 am (with staggered start times by event).
• Registration Benefits: Registration includes a t-shirt for the participant, raffle ticket, and post-race drinks & snacks.
• Accessibility: "Walk & Roll" event is held on an accessible, paved, 1/2 mile loop.
• Buddy Registration: Registration for the "Walk & Roll" includes a free 'buddy' for the primary participant, no extra registration fee is needed. Race t-shirt for the 'buddy' is an optional purchase during checkout.

New Features for 2026

• Revised Course: Revised race course will feature two 'out and back' sections that will eliminate the steep hill on the East Meadow loop!
• T-Shirt Guarantee: Race t-shirts in requested size will not be guaranteed if sign up occurs after September 10, 2026.
• Family Registration: Family Registration option -- register up to 4 family members for $100 total!
• Group Registration: Group Registration option -- register a team and fundraise together for Safe, Clean Water!

Awards

Awards: 5K Race Medals will be awarded to Top 3 Timed Finishers in each age/gender category (5K). 5K Race Trophies will be awarded for Overall Top 3 Finishers - Men and Top 3 Finishers - Women. Medal ceremony & photobooth opportunity with Paul & Skylar will take place after all events have finished.

Walk & Roll: "Walk & Roll" event will not be timed but all registrants will receive participation medals in a special awards ceremony.
