Event Overview

• Purpose: Support Cool's Legacy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, in our efforts to raise money for suicide awareness and prevention.
• Activities: Join us for the 5K or Fun Run and then stick around for a post-race celebration with food, beer, and activities.
• Beneficiaries: Net proceeds will be donated to organizations such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, JB27, and Operation Second Chance.
• Community Impact: These organizations advocate for research and education around suicide as well as provide support for those impacted by suicide.

Event Schedule

• Friday, September 18, 2026: 5-7pm: Packet Pick Up at the Thurmont Event Complex
• Saturday, September 19, 2026: 8:30am-9:30am: Packet Pick Up and Day-Of Registration
• 5K Start: 10am
• Fun Run Start: 10:05am
• Celebration Ends: 2pm

Fun Run

• Accessibility: We are excited to offer an option for participants to choose a fun run/walk event.
• Strollers: Strollers are welcome to participate in the Fun Run/Walk.

5K Details

• Certification: Timed event, not USATF-certified.
• Course: The race will start and end at the event complex.
• Trail: A portion of the run will be on the Thurmont Trolley Trail, a paved trail that was installed over the former trolley tracks.

Post-Race Celebration

• Food & Beer: We are excited to offer Bollinger's Restaurant and Uncle Dirty's Brew Works food and beer at the event.
• Complimentary Offers: 5K runners 21+ will receive one complimentary Uncle Dirty's Brew Works beer, one complimentary Bollinger's meal, and a commemorative glass.
• Under 21: 5K runners under 21 will receive a complimentary non-alcoholic drink and Bollinger's meal.
• Fun Run Runners: Will receive a complimentary hot dog, non-alcoholic drink, and commemorative cup.
• Activities: The celebration will include activities for kids and adults - bounce house, hayrides, and raffle baskets.

Packet Pick-up

• Opportunities: Two opportunities for Packet Pick Up at Thurmont Event Complex.
• Friday: September 18, 5pm to 7pm
• Race Day: September 19, 8:30am-9:30am

5K Awards

• Medals: Will be awarded to 1st Overall Adult Male/Female and 1st Overall Kids Male/Female.

Hydration

• Water Stations: Cupped water will be available at stops along the race.
• Bottled Water: Will be available at the finish line.
• Pre-Race Hydration: If you need hydration before the race, please bring it with you.

Parking

• Location: The Thurmont Event Complex has ample parking onsite.

Policies

• Weather: The event is rain or shine (within reason). Cancellations may occur for safety reasons.
• Restrictions: Dogs, bicycles, and skates are not allowed on the course: Strollers are permitted.
• Refunds: Sorry, no refunds.
