KMC Sage City Classic

Event Overview

The KMC Sage City Classic is a cycling road race held in Monticello, Illinois, featuring a scenic course through Piatt County. The event is designed to accommodate both competitive and recreational riders, offering smooth pavement, open terrain, and an enjoyable road racing experience in central Illinois.

Date and Location

• Date: Saturday, August 22, 2026
• Location: 106 S Market St., Monticello, IL
• Starting Point: Pepsin Hill (empty lot west of Kelly's Accounting Service).
• Signage: Follow signage to the event location.

Race Distances

• 33 Mile: Intended to be a more laid-back race, ideal for riders newer to road racing or those looking for a shorter, less intense event.
• 63 Mile: A more competitive race that emphasizes endurance, pack riding, and race strategy.
• Pace Requirement: Riders registering for the 63 mile should be able to maintain a minimum average speed of 15 mph: participants uncertain they can meet this pace are encouraged to select the 50K.
• Registration: Participants who register by 11:59pm cst on July 29th will receive a free Sage City Classic race shirt with their entry.

Awards

• Overall Awards: Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers in both races.
• Age Group Awards: Additional 1st place age group awards in the 63 mile race.
• Categories: 1st place 100K age group award categories are 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
• Focus: The KMC Sage City Classic is focused on providing a safe, well-organized event and a quality road racing experience for riders of all levels.
