About this race
Bootlegger Race Details
The Bootlegger is one of the most challenging and scenic gravel events of the year! There are two route choices (58 and 85 miles) that both start and finish in downtown Lenoir, NC and travel through the beautiful and rugged Wilson Creek Gorge.
Route Information
- 58 Mile Route: Approximately 4500 feet of climbing.
- 85 Mile Route: Includes approximately 7250 feet of climbing.
- Scenic View: Keep your head up and enjoy the scenery as the Bootlegger takes you to the Grandfather Ranger District.
- Terrain: Both routes roll through the countryside and into a gravel wonderland with challenging terrain.
Course and Amenities
- Course Marking: Well marked in Pisgah Productions style.
- Post-Race Meals: Meals and refreshments will be provided.
- Splitting Routes: The routes split after passing Coffey’s General Store towards Maple Sally Road.
- Download Maps: Maps and cue sheets are available.
Schedule of Events
- Friday: 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM Sign in OPEN.
- Saturday: 5:30 AM - 7:30 AM Sign in OPEN.
- 7:45 AM: Racer Meeting at START.
- 8:00 AM: Race START.
Awards Schedule
- 1:00 PM: 58 Mile awards.
- 2:00 PM: 85 Mile awards.
- 9:00 PM: Final cutoff.
- Overall Awards: Presented after the third racer in each division finishes.
Rules
- Fun: Have Fun!
- Helmet: Must wear an approved cycling helmet at all times.
- Support: No outside support: support can come from participating racers.
- Traffic Laws: Obey all local traffic laws.
