About this race
The Race
Welcome to the Hell Hole Hundred, an ultimate test of endurance and determination set against the picturesque backdrop of the Jericho Horse Trail within the Francis Marion National Forest. The race is presented by our title sponsor The Foot Store under management of Palmetto Ultras. This challenging race offers distances ranging from 10k to an awe-inspiring 100 miles, ensuring there's a challenge suitable for every level of runner.

Packet Pickup
Packet pick up times TBD but we usually have packet pickup at The Foot Store on Friday (day before the race) and a race day option at the start/finish line.
Aid Stations
- Stations: Three fully stocked aid stations along the course.
- Main Aid Station: Offers various ultra snacks and delicious food throughout the day. Menu is TBD.
- Hydration: Runners and volunteers enjoy complimentary meals. $5 meals available for non-participants.
- Facilities: Porta potties at start/finish and both aid stations.
Swamp Series
- Series: Participate in all 3 races (Frozen, Swamp Fox, and Hell Hole).
- Accolades: Accumulate the most miles to be crowned King/Queen of the swamp.
- Tie-Breaker: Fastest time wins in case of a tie.
- Registration: Select "swamp series" when registering for all 3 races.
Course Overview & Pacers
The race takes place within the Francis Marion National Forest located outside Charleston, South Carolina. The trail we run on is called the Jericho Horse Trail, consisting of dirt fire roads and single track trail. It is a flat trail that is beautiful but unforgiving in the heat.
- 10k Route: An out and back: no aid on the route.
- Pacers: Allowed for 50 milers (last loop) and 100 milers (after 3rd loop).
- Wildlife: Possible encounters with deer, gators, wild hogs, and more.
- Course Markings: Follow blue reflective flags and ribbon: recommended to download course map.
Start Time/Cutoff Times
- 100 Milers: Friday, June 4th at 7pm.
- 25k: Saturday, June 5th at 7am.
- 50k: Saturday, June 5th at 7:05am.
- Cutoffs: Varies by distance, check specifics on the race page.
Swag & Awards
- Swag: Includes a logo from artist Marcus Cripps and ICE BANDANAS for all registrants.
- Finishers: 100 milers receive a custom buckle: top finishers get trophies.
- Coasters: All finishers receive a custom engraved wooden coaster.
- Participation: All finishers get awards: details in race guide.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
The race will take place rain or shine. No refunds or deferrals are issued: insurance is advisable. Distance changes or bib transfers can be made until Tuesday the week of the race. Pregnancy and postpartum deferrals available.
Night Running
All runners in night events must have a functioning light. Be sure to bring a spare, batteries, and chargers.
