Catch the Leprechaun 5K

Race Overview

Go for the Pot o' GOLD! The Catch the Leprechaun 5K is a 3.1 mile race for walkers, joggers, competitive and non-competitive runners and stroller pushers (no bikes or dogs please). We encourage everyone to dress in their best Irish/Green outfit. Prizes are awarded to top runners, age groupers and best Irish costume! The course is a USATF Certified 5K flat and fast course on pavement.

• Registration Deadline: After 3/11/26, we can't guarantee race shirts, but you are still welcome to run with us!
• Experience: Plenty of shenanigans and beer await!
• Awards: Prizes for top runners and best costumes.
• Changes in Weather: The event will not be canceled due to rain alone: lightning may cause delays.

Race Details

The race will begin and end at Blue Sky Endurance at Park Bend at Carolina Park. The flat 5K course will take you along Park Avenue Blvd. to Darrel Creek Trail and back.

• Commemorative Medal: All finishers receive a medal.
• Race t-shirt: Commemorative t-shirts for participants.
• Post-Race Celebration: Free food and beverages after the race.
• Live Music: Enjoy post-race entertainment!

Awards

There will be Pots 'o Gold for the top 3 Overall male and female finishers, top male and female Masters, top male and female Grandmasters. Separate Age Group awards for the top male and female of each of the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, and 90 and over.

• Team Prize: Register your team for the largest team award!
• Fun Categories: Best Dressed Duo, Best Matching Group.
• Most Festive Outfit: Awards for St. Paddy's Day outfits.
• Tiny but Mighty: Littlest Leprechaun Award.

Charity Support

Proceeds from this race will benefit Racers for Pacers, a local non-profit that provides running chairs for individuals with disabilities who cannot run on their own. Racers for Pacers provides these individuals with the opportunity to “run” with a pacer on a regular basis and in local 5ks, 10ks or longer competitive runs throughout the Lowcountry.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Medal for Finishers: Yes, festive finisher medals will be awarded.
• Age Requirement: Minimum age is 6 years: consent from a parent or guardian is required.
• Kids Running Free: Children 10 & under can run for free but will not receive a timing chip or swag.
• No Pets: Dogs are not allowed on the race course for safety reasons.

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be at Blue Sky Endurance at Carolina Park. There will be packet pick up on Friday, March 13th from 10 am - 6 pm and on race day from 7:30 am - 8 am.

Post-Race Information

• Exchanges: You may exchange shirts if sizes are available after the race.
• Awards: Awards can be picked up at Blue Sky Endurance for up to one week post-race.
• No Drop Bags: There will not be a place to leave personal items.
• Headphones: It's advised to not use headphones during the race for safety reasons.
