Ian Burgett's Thanksgiving Day Fun Run

Since Thanksgiving was Ian’s favorite holiday, on Thanksgiving morning 2012, seven months after his untimely death, we held the first Ian Burgett’s Thanksgiving Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. This event is a celebration of Ian’s life and the major fundraiser for the Ian Michael Burgett Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is administrated by the Ian Michael Burgett Memorial Fund, (501(c)( 3) FEIN # 46-5201133), a non-profit entity established to honor the memory of the amazing young man who touched the hearts of so many people in his short time on this earth. The Ian Michael Burgett Memorial Fund awards yearly $2,000 scholarship(s) to a local college-bound high school seniors and provides matching funds to the Riverside Health System Foundation Ian Burgett Healthcare Heroes Scholarship, which was created to honor Ian and his volunteer work with the Riverside Junior Volunteer program. As the Fund grows, we will identify and support other programs that we believe Ian would approve of.

Over the past 14 years, what started as a gathering on a special day to remember Ian became an “official 5K” with timing, awards, and a whole lot of stress for the family on a day that's already stressful enough, so we took a time-out in 2022 to reevaluate and in 2023 brought back Ian's Run in it's original format - a fun run on Thanksgiving morning; a time to gather with friends and family, celebrate life, and remember those that aren't with us. We hope you can join us November 26, 2026 to get a bit of fresh air and exercise.
