On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Scott Laird Hometown Heroes Scholarship Team will host a special 5K Walk/Run fundraiser in memory of Major Scott Laird, Bronze Star recipient, and Lackawanna Trail alumni.

About Scott Laird

A proud resident of Dalton, PA, Scott joined the army after graduating high school and served two distinguished tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait. During his time in the military, Scott dreamed of the day he could return home to NEPA and begin building his future with his family, all the while giving back to the community he loved most.

Support the Scholarship

• Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds from this 5K will be donated to The Hometown Heroes Scholarship.
• Established: Created in 2021 in Scott’s honor.
• Purpose: This scholarship aids future heroes in the community as they realize their own dreams.
• Opportunities: Supports paths such as military service or higher education.
