🏃‍♂️ Mayor's 5K on the 5th Runway

The annual Mayor’s 5K on the 5th Runway is back! Hosted by Mayor Andre Dickens, this USATF-certified 5K race welcomes participants of all abilities to run or walk the 5th runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on October 5, 2024.

• Registration: Limited to the first 2,000 participants.
• Beneficiaries: Proceeds support the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program and United Way of Greater Atlanta.
• Course: One of the flattest and fastest courses in metro Atlanta.

ℹ️ Race Information

• Participants Receive: A commemorative T-shirt and medal.
• Warm-up Area: Limited space available before and after the event.
• Age Requirement: Participants must be 10 years or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
• Guide Runners: Special provisions for participants needing a guide or push-assist runner.

🕒 Race Day Schedule

• Parking Opens: 3:30 a.m. at Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) Parking Lot.
• Race Start: Officially begins at 6:30 a.m. on the 5th Runway.
• Finish: All participants must be off the runway by 7:30 a.m.
• Awards: Presented at 7:45 a.m. at Fire Station #33.

🚧 Race Rules

1. Course Deadline: Participants must maintain a 17-minute pace to be off the runway by 7:30 a.m.
2. Security: Compliance with airport regulations is mandatory.
3. Check-in: Required by 6 a.m. No same-day registrations allowed.
4. Participant Age: Minimum age is 10. Accompanied minors allowed.

😷 COVID-19 Protocols

1. Exclusions: Participants with COVID-19 symptoms or exposure will not be allowed.
2. Face Masks: Optional currently, subject to change.
3. Social Distancing: Encouraged throughout the event.
4. Sanitization: Participants advised to sanitize frequently.

🚗 Transportation & Parking

• Carpooling: Highly recommended.
• Parking: Available at Georgia International Convention Center (GICC).
• Shuttle Service: Provided between GICC and the race site.
• Ride-sharing: Drop-off and pickup instructions available.

🏅 Awards

• Categories: Awards for overall and age group winners based on net time.
• Eligibility: Only timed runners qualify for awards.
