💔 In Loving Memory of Arthur Schumacher

• Location: 6700 Center Rd, Valley City, OH
• Description: On December 31, 1992, tragedy struck our small tight knit community, as Assistant Chief Arthur Schumacher of the Valley City – Liverpool Township Fire Department lost his life during a water rescue. Assistant Chief Schumacher spent his adult life serving our community.

🏅 Race Purpose

• Scholarship Fund: To honor his service and his memory, the Valley City Firefighters Association set up a scholarship fund to help support our community’s firefighters further their education in the field of fire and EMS.
• Annual Event: Each year during our Street Fair, the Firefighters Association holds a 5K race/1 mile-fun run, with the proceeds of this event being set aside to support the Arthur E. Schumacher Scholarship Fund.
• Community Support: The race is a community effort to remember and celebrate the legacy of Assistant Chief Schumacher.

🏃‍♂️ Race Return

• Post-Pandemic: Like many events, this race suffered the lingering effects of the Global Pandemic and was not able to be run for several years.
• Looking Ahead: This year, the Valley City Firefighters Association and our community volunteers are bringing back the event.
